Hi All

I have been going it solo now for about 6 months and have been doing relatively well at making a decent profit. But the problem i am seeing is that it is sort of slowing quite a bit this could just be xmas, but even still a mjority of my sales till now have ceom from 2 clients.

What are you thoughts on taking a part time/ shift work job at this sort of point in building a business. It isnt because i am short of money but more to make sure i keep my financial position firm.

Any thoughts.

Money is always a problem, isn't it? Moonlighting is pretty common. In fact, even people like Henry Ford were moonlighting at one point (I was reading Henry Ford's biography and just found out about this). I think it really depends on what you want to achieve and how you want to achieve. I read J. D. Rockefeller's biography a while back, and I don't think he did any moonlighting, if I remember correctly.

I have found that moonlighting is not only good for your economy but also for your mental health. If your current business allows you some extra time, it's healthy to take up some activity, if possible away from computers. Or take up a hobby or whatever helps you forget about the up and downs of your business.

In my case, I play "padel", a relative of tennis. I tell you later here: http://www.aardvarksport.net/chat/

My two cents,

Alfredo

Thank-you for the replies guys.

I think finding a part time job is going to be the ticket, as i have been going a little backwards in the financial department latly due to the impact of christmas on business and spending. But 2005 is going to be a great year and should not be moonlighting for to long.

A part time will be fine Orion. I have been doing some partime while growing the business. Also, I suggest you try different venues too. I found that 3 or 4 different income sources are better than one. Right now, I am seeing the fruits of my hard work and appreciate all the suggestions that helped me improved my business.

Alfredo you are right, sometimes we need to move away from the computer to get fresh air.

Keep up the good work and do not give up. There is money on the internet business, persistence, researching, and a plan are important. Those have worked for me so far.

mean working a job while in business hen great!
because in Multiple Stream Of Income vol.2 by Robert Allen
He gives a situation I think you can benifit from...

Newlyweds both started a traditional MLM style business with a monthly quota
and eventually because of lack of consumers/representatives they used up a lot
of their savings. They then both decided to go back to work and while the wifes
paycheque was not very much they managed to live off of i while investing the
usbands entire $2000 monthly pay. Then after a few short months of doing this
they got back into their business with enogh money to maintain their current lifestyle
and even a surplus of income from their invesment account to more efficiently market
their MLM business.

Best Regards,
nRG

Having a part time job to make extra income, while you have a full time job. In many cases, the full time job does not allow you to have any part time job, and having this part time job is "moonlighting."

Federal employees do this often; they are not supposed to have a part time job, but many of them are not making much money, so they work at night or on weekends to make extra money.

Some great responces guys. I have found that i dont really need to do the working while getting business running now. The last three months ahve been great and even though i have been spending a lot faster then i should i think that i am going to be able to better maintain a high level of income and profit in the coming months. so moonlighting is gogin to be held off for now.
