My computer's fan is not moving at all. And it's so hot. I'm not so sure what's going on, but it doesn't seem like this is working as it's supposed to. I let some guy take a look at this and he was supposed to fix this computer, but it almost seems like he introduced a new problem. (Also UPS is not working working at all. When electricity goes off, my computer gets switched off. UPS is not doing what's it's supposed to be doing. this problem started right after this guy touched my machine.)

Fan is supposed to be moving at all times, right???

Possible, but it seems that the problem was that there was not enough oil. This is kind of weird because I got this fan, just, uh, ... 3 or 4 days ago. Anyway, it's spinning now ...

Oil...? Sounds like they got some pretty old technology going there as most units are now sealed and have been for a long time. I guess that one just isn't meant as a PC fan, but someone has stuck new connectors on it.

You do mean a tiny hole in the fan where you put a few drops of oil...don't you? Rather than a hole in the computer somewhere...!?

Most computer fans are sealed units and have been for a long time. From memory they either changed the type of bearings or removed them (long time since I looked at one) so that they'd be quieter, but eventually the grease inside it will wear out and the fan will die. The other main advantage of sealed units is that they don't get dust inside them which wears everything out pretty quick - unless you start cleaning them (total pain).

I guess the other type will work, although no doubt will need oiling quite a bit, but they'll be noisier than the modern PC fans and i suspect aren't really made for that purpose.

As you said, now that I think about this, this power supply was f***ed up to begin with. In fact, its fan stopped working a couple of weeks ago. I ended up getting yet another power supply ...

If one of parties in UK promise to drop 100 nuclear bombs in India to clean it up, be sure to vote for that party. And don't worry about me. I'll perish as well ..., and that'll perhaps be for the best ...

Well, there are a bunch of insects other than animals like cows, goats and dogs. It's tricky. You need to have something that has intelligence so that you can train 'it'. At the same time, 'it' needs to be small enough. 'It' needs to not consume too much food. Etc. etc. etc. ...

Ah... but what about performing fleas. They have circusses don't you know. We've tried it with mosquitoes - but they're obviously not as clever.
