A colleague recently sent over a company offering up the possibility of having a video salesman type thing on a web page. Initially I thought that would be a horrible idea but this morning I read this interesting post by landing page god Tim Ash on how such a facility has helped conversions at a number of sites.

What do you guys think?

That's what I thought as well. Tim Ash is the guy for landing page optimisation though so it'd be odd for him to back a turkey.

I guess there are possibly some circumstances in which it might work.

Maybe it's more suited to dumb Americans that want to have their hand held - no offence to Americans (except the dumb ones! Razz ) - and be "talked through" a website experience.

I have seen such live person on several websites, especially download movies website and some adult website.

For an instant, it looked cool but after a while, it get on my nerve as whenever I click on any links, this live person will pop up over and over again..

Real annoying...

Would think by using a peel off page...is more eye catching.

Cheers !

Hey there

Personally I don't like the idea of this on a site, as I work at here with I4, Website Designers so I see alot of sites and how they go wrong, these people can get really annoying, as busine55 said.
It depends how you want to present your companies image Smile sometimes it works sometimes i doesn't.

I was considering adding to our site. But everytime I went to a site that automatically played the the video person, I got annoyed after a while. It's OK if it did not play automatically.
