BranchOut caters to the professionally oriented Facebook user. This relatively new application transforms Facebook into your personal career center. You can search through your friends by company to see which social connections can help you professionally, too.

No. But then I wouldn't search for any job at all. Twisted Evil

In the last couple of decades any jobs I've had have been the result of the employer contacting me to ask if I want to do it. I'm useless at interviews and have very rarely got any job I applied for. Equally, I never applied for any job I got. Laughing

Bah, you beat me to it. That's exactly what I was going to say.

Who in their right mind would actually work for someone else? Perish the thought...

Laughing Well, normally I wouldn't want a job but if the right offer comes along sometimes it's hard to resist.

I agree with Allson, I absolutely love interviews. When the pre-interview nerves turn into adrenaline during the interview its an amazing feeling.

Im envious of the guys above who have never applied for any of their jobs, but unfortunately im not in that position so I would consider seeking new roles through social networking. I imagine it would only be a consideration though as the exposure to any roles found through facebook etc would probably discourage.

This might be of interest - http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/j.1083-6101.2007.00367.x

Seems people are using Facebook to find work after all.

I wouldn't search for a job on facebook no. I'd just use the broad job sites and my local paper providing i wanted to work locally.

That is an interesting point. My site deals with "video CVs" so to speak, if people are searching for jobs using facebook it would really help my site progress.

From an employers point of view, having a busy fan page would generate a ton of applicants.
From an employees point of view, it would be very difficult to stick out in the crowd

Employers check your facebook (and other) profile, to check what person are you. So it is good not to put "HEY, look how crazy I am!" photos on your social profiles Wink Better make it look professional.

Indeed, or at least be careful with your privacy settings or have two IDs for Facebook if you so wish - one for work and one for personal.
