Hi everyone.

My name is Gigi, and I am new to the forum. I am 23 years old and have just relocated to Northern Ireland from California.

I am starting a new business, its an online store selling a range of specilist baby clothes.I do not want to give to much away, but I was really hoping you could give me your thoughts on the name I was thinking of...blackberry babes

What do you think, I am not really looking for alternative suggestions, just your thoughts on that name.

Thanks

Gigi

Welcome to the forums.

Personally, i'm not too sure about the name. The word 'blackberry' is commonly associated with PDAs these days, and 'babes' is a term that's arguably more associated with page 3 than it is babies.

Is there a reason you're considering that name in particular?

Yeh, Im actually in Northern Ireland myself!

Im not sure on the entire name at all, Blackberry is more related to mpbile phones than babies clothes, and also 'babes' is more relevant to censored sites.

If you're going to be running an online business, you have to think of a name that is unique enough that it will come up top of google, and too be honest almost every website my colleagues have created has managed that.
If you type 'babes' into google....you'll have to avert your eyes!!!

i would have to agree with the two points of view already shown.

It would be itneresting to know why you have gone for this name? Have you done any primary or secondary reaearch. It might be useful to research competitors and see what brand names they are using, and also carry out some quantative research on your target market and find you their thoughts and feelings towards the name.

Also when purchasing a url if you are considering SEO at anypoint in the future it would be hihgly beneficial to go for a keyword, rather than a brand name, i'm sorry to say it but i imagine the url www.balckberrybabes to be a porn site.

I agree Annstar! One thing I conceive if I hear blackberry babe, either it's more on a hot women or porn site. Just make it simple, give a title that has a connection in a site or in your product, you promote. Search first in Google which is the same category of your product to get a strong and indemand title. Idea
