Just been reading that Oracle may be cutting support for Open Office. I use OO rather than MS Office so am kinda hoping this isn't true.

Anyone else an Open Office user?

Me too. Hopefully Oracle will continue to support it.

Well, if you must use Linux, you're kinda forced to use OpenOffice ..or if you want to avoid buying an enterprise license from Microsoft ...but besides that, I think MS Office is a litle over OO ( just my opinion, don't flame Very Happy ).

OO is great. I only use it now when I have too as I use Pages and Number on Mac. I've used OO for years and always found it very easy to use.

I'm using Google Docs primarily these days. I like the fact that I can just pick up where I left off, regardless whether I switch between home and work, or work from laptop elsewhere...

Google Docs (or Drive) has improved a fair bit over the years. Of course another option is to still use a desktop solution but save your documents into something like DropBox.

Not quite as intuitive of course, but an option.

I've found the Word/Excel options in Drive pretty good to be honest, and things like Prezi are much better than PowerPoint.

And the other good thing about Google Docs I find is the simplicity with which you can search for a particular document... of course, that bit should be easy given Google's background.

I used google docs for years but the last while i start to rethink that.

It all started when the numbers in my spreadsheets did not make sense and i just didn't get it.

And then one day i did a sum of 4 columns that all had 0 in it and googles answer to the sum was -0.01

So then i decided that is why i started to doubt my other numbers so exported them to excel and there the numbers where correct.

Still use google spreadsheets a bit but looking hard to find the best replacement.

That's strange - I don't use Google spreadsheets that much, but I've never experienced anything like that.

It is strange and specially if those numbers are important then you need to be sure you can trust it.
