Just received a phone call.
Indian accent. "Hello, can I speak to Mr. Paul Johnson?"
"Who's calling?"
"I'm calling from Texas." (It would have been about 06.20 so an early starter)
"I'm sorry?"
"Texas, USA"
"Ah... whereabouts in Texas?" (I was pretty sure he was calling from India, so I thought I'd test his knowledge of US geography...)
"I'm sorry...?"
"Whereabouts in Texas?"
"What do you mean? I'm calling from USA... Texas, Ma'am." (God knows why he called me Ma'am?????!!!! FFS!)
"Yes... but where in Texas?"
"What do you mean? Texas is a city, Ma'am..."
"No, it's not. Whereabouts in Texas are you?"
"Why are you asking me this?"
"Because I don't think you're calling from Texas."
"Why would I lie to you?"
"I don't know. Texas is a state, not a city... if you were really calling from Texas, you would know that."
"No, it's a city, Ma'am..."
"No it's not."
This went on for some time. I said I was not going to talk to him if he couldn't be honest and gave him several opportunities to start again and tell me where he was, but he was insistent he was calling from Texas. Call eventually ended with us being "cut off".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Called again 5 minutes later.
"Can I speak to Mr. Johnson"
"Speaking"
"I spoke to your wife 5 minutes ago..." (WTF???)
"No, that was me"
"...I am calling from Texas..."
"No, you're not."
"Yes, I am calling from Texas, USA..."
"Look, I'll give you another chance... if you start by being honest about where you are calling from, we can have a conversation... if you are going to insist that you are calling from Texas, then I will hang up. Want to try again?"
"I am calling from Texas..."

They can be fun if you have tha time, but otherwise they are a waste, which is a shame as they are the ones losing out
It does make one wonder who they actually sell to |

Brilliant
So he called you Mr Johnson, then thought you were female? Good grief. _________________ My social media blog |

lol. I love the way they always choose really obvious names for themselves too which are obviously fake. |

had one of those to once. And the funny part was they he seem to have all my domain info in a row because he kept calling me for the next domain and the next without noticing that he was talking to the same person.
At the end I got really mad but even that didn't help _________________ George

Hilarious. I like the ones you get on a forum who pretend to be what they're not and think they can fool people. They quite often use what they think are Western sounding names but they don't quite ring true, because they usually spell them wrongly.
I'm amazed that you gave him so many chances, Paul. After all, you're Doctor Johnson, why the need to concern themselves with whether you're a Mr or a Mrs?
Don't worry about it. I get called "Sir" quite a lot. Dunno if that's to do with my personality or just the person's lack of education. _________________ http://britishexpat.com |
