I need to install a phpBB anti-Spam mod or two, but I was away from this stuff for close to a month, and I cannot remember what mods should be installed. I looked for phpBB anti-Spam mods briefly, and I found the following:

Stop Spambot Registration

How does this work? Is this an effective phpBB anti-Spam mod?

There is a mod that asks each new member to answer a simple question upon registration. That has worked very well at stopping spam. You can add your own questions to it to keep things fresh.

Oh, I remember that one. I actually installed that in a couple of my forums, and it's working pretty effectively, though I see a couple of manual Spam posts still.

I actually installed Stop Spambot Registration mod in one of forums that did not have any anti-Spam mod several hours ago, and I have not received any Spam post so far. I'll keep watching to see what happens for the next 24 - 48 hours.

I guess it will always be difficult to stop manual spammers but that question mod has really cut down on spam so that's good enough for me.

Ok, this mod doesn't really work. I installed it, but I still get a bunch of Spam posts. Maybe it does stop some Spam posts but not all. Quite a few bots seem to be able to get around.

Does putting no follow tags on all hyperlinks on a website help with spammers?

Have you tried adding your own questions?
