|Yeah, but the big difference here is that both businesses are presumably profitable and sustainable in their own right, whereas AOL was starting to become a dead duck and was probably saved by the merger.
The word from high up within TW is that they figured they were losing money through music downloads so they thought buying AOL would let them get some of that money back. Not sure why they thought getting money from AOL would help there mind you considering the massive numbers of customers it's losing, but I suspect most of them weren't exactly up on the AOL problems.
If only they'd posted on AB first...!
