We have two computers in our office. We have one internet connection. Can we share the connecting using a hub or we need to have a router?

(Also if I need to have a router, why so?)

Thinking back to my Cisco training, routers are designed for Internet connectivity so will have better security, access control lists and so on.

Hubs on the other hand are mainly designed for local networks because they're dumb devices. What they get, they send out to everyone they're connected to.

Broadband routers are pretty cheap these days so that's what I'd go for.
