Taking the huge leap to quit your job is a massive step, and extremely risky.

But as we all appreciate, different people have different risk adversity.

So, my question is. At what point would you be prepared to take the leap?

If I was in a situation where I had a day job and had started doing some extra work for myself on the side (that's not actually my situation, but never mind...), I would like to see it working before I took the plunge but then I have a wife and children to think about. If I was young, free and single, I'd be more liassez-faire about it. It would also have to depend on what savings I had to fall back on at the time and how convinced I was that my venture was going to work, even if it was a long term strategy.

Essentially, I suppose it depends heavily on personal circumstances.
