As a small, business owner I woud never hire a woman becos they get pregnant and then you have to train someone else to do the job. Its better to hire a man becos they are the breadwinner for the famly and they dont get pregnat.

I would imagine there's many people out there that share the same sentiment. However, in some countries they have to be careful about saying as much. Smile

Not every woman wants to have a child! Not every woman will have a child in their lifetime. And even then, in this day and age, both the man and woman usually have to both work to bring in the money they require for their household, both parents are struggle to pay the bills, and by you not hiring women, your not helping!

i would completely disgree with this statement, i think that women can perform a job just as well if not better than their male conterpart and the fact that nature dictated that they are the child bearer should have an effect on job prospects. Also stating that the male is the breadwinner is a stereotypical view that is not true in alot of families across western countires now.

I also think that women often work harder than men as they have an inbuilt guilt system that i feel is stonger than a mans.

Just because men don't get pregnant doesn't mean that they won't resign or go chasing another job. Then you'd have to hire another person anyway.
So, it is a risk that you take, either with men or women.

Thinking about the many teams I've managed, not one have been all men or all women
I consciously create a mixture of men / women and skillsets

As for women with kids - I've found they're the most focused in work since they have to nail the work before leaving to pick up their kids from school
They're often more productive in 8 hours than men in 10 who feel they need to display presenteeism
