Today is apparently the 25th Exclamation anniversary of the registration of the first ever .com domain name ( http://symbolics.com/ - I bet they're traffic must be soaring today!)

When did you register your first domain name, and what was it?

For me, it was http://www.dedicate.co.uk and the year must have been about 1994/5/6.

i bought domains for my personal emails around 8 years ago, to avoid changing email addresses when changing hosting companies

I bought http://physiobench.com in 2007 and since then have amassed quite a number for niche marketing.
I've recently bought up the domains with my name in which I'm sure will come in handy.

I think I probably bought adigaskell.org 10 years ago now. Maybe slightly more.

Stand corrected, it was bought 22nd August 2001.

about 10 years ago: discotaminatedvinyl (a record shop) soon realised it wasnt such a great name and registered djneeds.com which sadly is no longer mine & was "lost" by its owner a few years ago!

If only I'de focused more on computers/internet 10 years ago rather than flogging vinyl records!!! Rolling Eyes

BritishExpat.com in Feb 2000. I also bought a food-related at that time but let it lapse. I bought plenty more domains in the interim, but I didn't go back into the foodie niche until about mid-2008. Kinda wish I had stuck at it from the start - but hindsight is a great thing. Cool

First one was 27-Jan-1998 although I need to move it really as the ISP were taken over and new lot are totally useless.

I registered my first domain in 2003. But looking back there are hundreds of them I wish I would have been smart enough to register in the 90's when I was in high school.

Usually you can lookup on the WhoIs database - I'd link to it, but I'm forbidden from doing so. Just Google for "whois".
According to that, the record was created 11-15-2000
I know there is a cut off point though, where really old domains were presumably registered before the WhoIs database was set up.
