I rate my hosting with a 10+
They are constantly upgrading to the newest software with very very little downtime, I would say I have 99.9% uptime. I have been with them for two years. They offer both cpanel control oanel and the new plesk7.
They support
PHP
PERL
FLASH
ASP
They have spamassisin and virus protection right on the server for web bsaed email.
They offer fantastico which is a click of the mouse insatll foe things like
phpbb
oscommerce
blog
and about about twenty or thirty other scripts and programs.
There support is awesome and timely.
They also have a free flash website generator that comes with hosting package along with site builder.
I give them 100% and recommend them
I know I am not supposed to advertise for them so I will not post the company.
If anyone wants to know send me an email

Thats pretty good, who hosts you?

I like my hosting, I give it a 9, just because there has been some downtime. But I have great features, good support, and a GREAT price.

Eh, it was because they were switching servers...

Interland: -5 Let's just say we have a lawsuit pending against them for breach of contract

Datasprocket: 8 - a little pricey for what you get, however we just needed root access to an OpenBSD server for 10 months. Service was great.

Schuland-Partner AG (aka 1and1.com): 10+

We have two managed dedicated servers running linux. One for $70 a month, the other for $80. While there are times I wish I had root access for some custom apache config, its a small price to pay for having a great web interface, website builder, Email with virus protection, and firewall protected databases. Everything has been great thus far.

Server I is a 1Ghz PIII 256MB Ram, 40GB HDD with Linux

Server II is a P4 1.8Ghz 512Mb ram 80GB HDD with Linux.

I forget the bandwidth per month, but its plenty for our 10 sites we manage.

Although before, we had self managed dedicated servers. 20 hours of my time a week was spent doing updates for the latest security holes and such. Although our work load hasn't increased much so I get more time to play hockey and promote our hockey website.

I've been with Webfusion which is part of Host Europe.

www.webfusion.co.uk

I'd give mine a 7 - they would get a 10 if;

the customer support was a little quicker at responding to email support queries. Telephone support is 24/7 and you usually get the problem sorted at the first phone call.

.. and they had GD Library or equivilant!

we've been using FastNet www.fast.net; I'd rate them a 7 overall. if it weren't for their cheap price, probably lower, since their reliability has been only fair and their support is mediocre.

Dedicated server with servermatrix, $50/mo (special deal)

Celeron 2.4
512 ram
2x 80gb harddrives

It's perfect, never had any problems ever since I signed up with them almost a year ago.

We've used 1&1 (www.oneandone.co.uk) for the past year, MS Professional package (shared hosting). The package is excellent, 10/10 -- 10 GB space, 80 GB traffic, SSL, unlimited domains/subdomains, dedicated 0800 support line.

The tech support is pretty poor, 3/10. Maybe the support folk are better on UNIX systems (being generous to them), but for MS packages you'll probably know more than they do, which isn't helpful when it's you with the problem.

First ten months were pretty reliable, 8/10, let down by poor support. Last 2 months we've had 23 hours of downtime and some user sharing the box managed to infect all our sites with a virus (we host over 100 MB of downloadable EXEs). Today I rate them 4/10 and I'm reading the other posts with interest!

We use ipowerweb, and we give them a 9.5

for 7.95 a month we get 800MB storage, 40Gig transfer bandwidth, 500 emails, and all the other goodies. Our uptime is near 100% and their tech support is very knowledgeable and available 24/7 via phone and live chat. Thumbs up! Smile

I am pretty happy with my Host www.surftown.com

Price it great 0.99 pounds a month a you really get a lot for it.

No mayor problems till now. Ok somethimes a mail server has problems for 30 minutes or so but nothing mayor.

The only down time we got till now was when the main internet gateway in denmark (surftown is based in denmark) was without electricity. But nothing they could have done about that.

I get all my hosting from www.1and1.com. A little while ago they had this deal where you get 1gig of web space + 20gig transfer + 1 domain free for 3 years. And there's no strings attached, which I think is cool. But that recently expired, so I canceled my account and signed up for their new deal, which is:

Free for 6 Months - No Obligation, no credit card

Server/Applications:
Hosted on Fedora Core 2 Linux
WebsiteCreator for 18 pages
DynamicSiteCreator for 18 pages
Software worth $600
1&1 Control Panel

Website/Connectivity:
2 GB web space
Unlimited FTP access
50,000 MB/month traffic
50 sub-domains
Full FTP/SSH access

Domain names:
Manage all domain names
1 free domain

Email Handling:
500 accounts (POP3 Boxes)
1GB mail space
1,000 aliases
Auto-responders, forwarding, Webmail
Virus Scan for all POP3 Boxes

Website Features:
Full FrontPage Extensions (all versions)
ASP, PHP, Perl, Python
Access Database supported
100MB MySql Server
SSL/private folders supported
Graphics Archive

Support:
24/7 Free by phone, Email & live help

They always answer email within the hour and I can always call even at 2 or 3 am. I have never had downtime (they guarantee 99.9% uptime) and I think they're totally the best webserver company I've ever used.

Seems like you all found the perfect partner :

I pay the incredibly low amount of 60euro a year for...............EVERYTHING I wish for Wink
That is, was, the good site : I have 6Gb of space, 15Gb band width, endless domains, endless emails, endless everyting. I am not exagerating !

Everything went fine until last week : downtime around the clock and problems with the server. Problems that I, as an IT freak, could not believe of, sooooo simple.
So I am looking for a more "professional approach" and got myself a dedicated server at a reknown IT company in Belgium : cost multiplied with 10 but no hassle and no prolems.

Started of like a fairy tale, ended in a serious debacle...

I am currently hosted with www.lunarpages.com

They are excellent and their support is A1. Their prices are reseanable and are value for money.

They have 3000Mb and 40gb bandwidth, no set up fee and TONS of scripts and features. They must be one of the most reliable hosts out there!!

One thing that is important is being cheap is not always the best as if you skimp on support this reflects badly on your company.

The best thing when choosing a host is if their support is up to scratch and to have resenable prices. You can also use something like www.hostquote.com to get offers

Cheers
