Does anyone else suffer from large numbers of spam emails trying to sell SEO services?

I get several a day, all from gmail addresses but with names that don't match the email address in any way. They come from my website enquiry form and the logs suggest they are sent from India most of the time.

Has anyone experienced this and found a way to stop it without the risk of blocking legitimate messages?

I get them pretty regularly. I'm using Gmail now so anything like that I just hit the 'report spam' button.

I get qutie a few. Jon, does having a gmail account actually prevent you from ever seeing them or is it a case of they go into some junk mail folder which yiou may eventually need to look through anyway to find that lost never redcieved email?

Set up filters. If a particular word is in the subject/message body or in email address, tell the gmail to delete them.

This kind of filtering is in Hotmail.com though.

I am getting quite a few using website contact forms.

Can't see any easy way to keep these out.

We're getting them too. It's easy enough to keep the bots out but this seems to be a case of low-paid people plugging away at it. It's just a nuisance. I expect that there are some mugs who sign up for the "service" otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it. Rolling Eyes

For me, it's natural to receive a spam mail from my Gmail account. And I didn't know where all the spam mail came from. I ignore this and delete this even without reading the email. Thanks radhika, I'll try your advice to prevent a junk mail.

I get dozens and dozens of them and going through my emails each morning normally always means deleting 5-10 of them each morning.

I guess there is no solution although if we all click to classify them as spam then maybe this will help these emaisl to go into the spam folder. I think overall though it a sign of the future.

Gee, I know. I get heaps of emails from these spammy twits. If they were even capable of using a search engine they'd see that I was already #1 on G for my key word/phrase. Idiots! Rolling Eyes

That sounds like a good idea. I HATE spammers and anything we can do to make their lives more difficult sounds good to me.

The trouble is that a lot of these spammers are hapless cubicle monkeys trying to meet their quotas. Yeah, I'm hard but even I feel sorry for them.

Any advice on that, please?

Uncle OWG replies:

Dear Kay,

Your problem is you are too sensitive (probably due to being a Scorpio), what you need to do is toughen up. You need to understand what losing is and learn to live with it. I would suggest reading some biography's like Maxwell, my money and how I keep it. Or Larry Page - how to fool the world and ride roughshod over everyone but claim to do no evil.

or maybe even Steve Jobs - an apple a day keeps your sanity at bay.

Failing that, you can always start following English Rugby, you will get used to dealing with bitter loss in no time at all.

Toughen up girlfriend, look life in the eye and say 'DOUBLE HELPINGS FOR KAY PLEASE LIFE!!!!!
