|Originally written in a .test newsgroup after being asked whether everyone in there was in fact bonkers. To test the theory I wrote the following, although didn't expect this conclusion!
Trev's law of sanity states:
- Anyone who considers themselves sane is suffering from "santiy
delusional paranoia". The paranoia causes them to see themselves as sane
as they can't handle the idea that they are infact bonkers like they assume everyone
- Anyone who considers themselves bonkers is suffering from "bonkers
delusional paranoia". The paranoia causes them to see themselves as
bonkers as they can't handle the idea that they are infact sane like they assume
everyone else is.
Since both parties regard everyone else as being the opposite to themselves in the sanity stakes and are quite content to be unique, they may get a horrible shock to learn that in fact as they all suffer from one or the other form of paranoia theuy are all both bonkers and the same therefore not as unique as they first thought.
Of course this does get more complex as if everyone is bonkers then all bonkers people are perfectly sane as thats the normal state as being bonkers means that you're different from the rest, but that would mean that the author of this theory is therefore different from all the other people and is be definition stark raving bonkers!
