Should be interesting to see how much traffic they bring as I'm ranking reasonably for a few good search terms.

I'm a bit confused by this one. On the Slashdot entry dated today, they mention that the site is getting a revamped look but the actual switch to MSN with a new algo will be coming much later.

On the Cnet site however the article seems to be dated June so did they revamp in June and this is the new algo or are they just doing a bit of PR to stop people forgetting about it?

I like the bit about:

In addition, MSN will host a dedicated "light" search page that the company boasts will out-Google Google in its minimalism.

Hmm, looks like Microsoft don't quite get it. Theres very careful thought that goes into that design, not just someone sitting down and working out what they can remove from the page to make it more minimalist - sounds like someone at MSN had too much Feng Su (or however thats spelt).

With regards the bandwidth mentioned by TWI in another thread about this - it's been going nuts on our servers and really dragging poor Abi down (where this site is hosted). Hopefully it should calm down again now...

What is being launched tomorrow is the public version of the beta MSN technology search. They are dumping their attempts at being a portal though, so lord knows.
